Resource Center

The ASERT Resource Center serves as Pennsylvania’s leading source for up-to-date and accurate information and resources for individuals with autism, their families, the community and the professionals who support them. Contact the ASERT resource center to speak with a resource specialist who can help you learn how to discover and access resources in Pennsylvania.

When should I contact the Resource Center?

If you have additional questions about information you found on or would like to invite an outreach specialist to attend an event, conference, or support group, someone at the resource center can assist you.

Are you located outside of Pennsylvania?
The ASERT resource center is focused on specific resources in Pennsylvania. If you are in another state, the resources specialists will not be able to help you. Please visit the resources section of, as some of the online resources may be applicable to residents of other states.

This resource provides information about learning the skills for an individual with Autism to cope with new situations.  The strategies discussed in this resource can assist you to adjust to new situations.

Supporting New Habits

This resource provides information about techniques or strategies to use to support new habits.  Employment seeking can be a new habit for someone and this resource provides strategies on how to cope.

Building a Relationship of Mutual Respect - Infographic and Prezi Link

This resource provides information on building trust and speaking to the people you support based on mutual respect. This is an important resource for an individual with autism while they are job seeking.

This resource provides information about workplace relationships.  It provides suggestions on how to develop and navigate different types of workplace relationships.

Employment Resources for People with Disabilities

This resource provides a list of employment resources for Pennsylvanians with disabilities.  It was provided by the Public Interest Law Center to assist you with your employment search.

OVR Referral Process for Employment-Related Services

This bundle of resources from the office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) is used to update guidance requirements.  The resource provides a list of definitions, referral process for employment and ID-Referral Resource Accounts.

OVR Early Reach Program

Early Outreach is an initiative intended to promote successful outcomes for youth with disabilities.  The inititative Increasing awareness of OVR services and the benefits of early career planning.

Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR): Rehabilitation Services Handbook

This guide is prepared by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.  It explains how Vocational Rehabilitation Services work.

Office of Vocational Rehabilitation: Jobs for All Initiative

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation provides a pamphlet about the Jobs for All Initiative.  It provides opportunities for qualified OVR youth customers, age 25 and under, to enter into employment.

Commonwealth Workforce Development System (Job Gateway)

The Commonwealth Workforce Development System website links businesses and individuals to Pennsylvania's workforce development and independent living services.  The Job Gateway website allows you to search as a job seeker, employer and service provider.

What to Know About Bank Accounts

This resource, developed by ASERT for #ASDNext, provides basic information about bank accounts.  It gives an individual basic knowledge when they start earning money from employment to interact with banks.

This resource, developed by ASERT for #ASDNext, provides information what a resume is and how to create one.

This resource was developed by ASERT for ASDNext and provides tips and suggestions to prepare for the job application process.

Job Skills: Getting Ready for Work

This one-page guide from PA Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education, describes skills for youth that lead to success in the workplace.  Learning and practicing job skills helps youth with disabilities to be successful at finding and maintaining employment.
