Question: What is the PA Autism Needs Assessment?
Answer: In order to collect more information from the last assessment and update questions to reflect a changing autism population, the Autism Services, Education, Resources, & Training Collaborative (ASERT) in partnership with the BAS, is executing a follow-up to the 2011 Pennsylvania Autism Needs Assessment, the 2017 PA Autism Needs Assessment Update.
Question: Who receives the PA Autism Needs Assessment?
Answer: You would receive an invitation to complete the PA Autism Needs Assessment if you or someone in your family may have received autism services in Pennsylvania in the past. If you think you received the letter in error, you can disregard it. Answer: You can complete the PA Autism Needs Assessment in two ways! You can complete it online by visiting paautism.org/needsassessment. Or, you can ask for a paper copy of the PA Autism Needs Assessment by contacting ASERT Resource Center (877-231-4244) or email info@paautism.org. The paper copy will come to you in the mail with a self-addressed prepaid envelope that you will send back to us. If you contact the ASERT Resource Center, tell them if you are a parent of a child with autism or a person with autism (18 years old or older) so they know which survey to send you.

Answer: Results from the PA Autism Needs Assessment will be on our website for everyone to see and use. Reports from the last PA Autism Needs Assessment are available on our website (find below). This information is very helpful. It is used to help us know more about the needs of people with autism and their families. We can also see if this need has changed over time.
Question: Who will see my answers to the PA Autism Needs Assessment?
Answer: The only people who will see your answers are ASERT staff who have been trained and approved to work on this project by the Drexel University Institutional Review Board (IRB). We have been trained in doing surveys with people and take privacy and security very seriously. You will have the choice to keep your answers anonymous.

Answer: The PA Autism Needs Assessment is funded by the Autism Services, Education, Resources, & Training Collaborative (ASERT), Bureau of Autism Services (BAS), Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), PA Department of Human Services (DHS).
